Senate Puts America First and Says: No To Mexican Trucks On U.S. Highways.

By a vote of 75 – 23 (and 2 not voting – see below), the Senate supported Senator Byron L. Dorgan, (D-ND) and his Amendment. No. 2797; to H. R. 3074, the Transportation Appropriations Bill to stop Mexican Truck traffic in the U. S.

The Senate voted overwhelmingly to put a stop to the Bush Administration’s effort to grant Mexican trucks unlimited access to all U.S. roads. Senator Dorgan noted that it “is identical to language already included in the House-passed version and concluded, “I expect this provision will not be altered in the House–Senate conference committee and that we have, effectively, stopped this pilot program.”

Senators who opposed the Dorgan Amendment to Stop the Mexican trucks, and thus apparently are in support of unlimited Mexican truck traffic in the United States are:
