While burglarizing a Missouri home, Weaver could not resist left-over fried chicken in their refrigerator. He then entered a second home down the street and left chicken bones strewn through the house.
DNA from the chicken bones was matched to DNA on a national database. DNA had been collected from Weaver because he committed multiple felonies in the past. Numerous states have proposed collecting DNA on everyone convicted of a felony. The DNA would be used to find deadbeat dads and solve future crimes by repeat offenders. The NAACP is a leading opponent of DNA databases.
