Why did the US House close it's doors?

The  US House of Representatives has only held 5 closed door sessions in it’s history. The 5th was on March 13th, 2008. The bill being debated is called the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Bill.

A startling revelation from ABC News is that only a fraction of the US House were even allowed to read about the program they were debating!

The last closed door session was in 1983 to debate US support for paramilitaries in Nicaragua.
