Two fan created Lord of the Rings Movie coming out.

About 100 volunteer fans came together to make a non-profit Lord of the Rings Prequel, called The Hunt for Gollum. The 50 minute flick will premiere online for free. The story line is Appendices of The Lord of the Rings, and filmed in Wales. The movie will come out on May 3rd.

A second non-commercial fan created movie is also being filmed in England called Born of Hope. About 250 volunteer fans are working on the movie. The movie is being filmed at West Stow, a historical reconstruction of a 5th-7th Century Anglo-Saxon village located in Suffolk. It utilizes many of the same people and props from Hunt for Gollum. The story line is also inspired by the appendices of the Lord of the Rings, about the parents of Aragon.

A commercial Lord of the Rings prequel based on the book The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien is slated to come out in theaters in the Summer of 2011. It will be directed by Guillermo del Toro, with screenplay by Peter Jackson.
