Just as the ANC is vowing that South Africa is safe for the world cup…

South Africans beat each other in the streets for discounted World Cup tickets.

With violence out of control, World Cup tickets are getting harder and harder to sell. Sponsors like McDonalds and Adidas have returned a total of 500,000+ tickets saying they can not even give them away for free. Some tickets have been reduced to only a few dollars.

550,000 of these discounts tickets are being sold in eleven locations in South Africa today. 53,000 of these sold the first day. However, people claiming that the line was moving to slow began beating each other at several locations. Riot police used tear gas to disperse crowds at some locations.

A ticket center in Soweto claims that to many people were making cell phone calls while purchasing tickets making the transactions take extra long.
