Justice for David James

David James

A central theme in the rallies and media coverage of the Trayvon Martin shooting is that whites are allegedly given preferential treatment by the justice system. Nothing could be further from the truth. Back in 2010, David James was playing basketball with his daughter at a park in central Florida. Trevor Dooley, an erratic and aggressive 69-year-old black man, lived by the park. He became angry at a child for skateboarding and ran across the street screaming while brandishing a firearm. James tried to disarm Dooley, and Dooley shot him.

James died in front of his eight year old daughter.

The police conducted an investigation and then arrested and booked Dooley for manslaughter, illegal carry of a firearm, and illegally brandishing a firearm. Witnesses testified that Dooley was not defending himself but was the aggressor the entire time.

Despite what you have heard on some recent “mainstream” media reports, Dooley was not arrested at the scene.  The police conducted an investigation and then arrested and booked Dooley for manslaughter, illegal carry of a firearm, and illegally brandishing a firearm. Witnesses testified that Dooley was not defending himself but was the aggressor the entire time. Family members say Dooley got away with murder.

It is unclear why prosecutors failed to get a conviction for manslaughter.
