Vietnamese immigrant arrested for double stabbing in Salt Lake City

This is an older mugshot from a previous arrest. Suspect is 34 now.

A Vietnamese immigrant stabbed two white pedestrians at a Salt Lake City mall, while screaming “you killed my people.” A man with a concealed handgun brought an end to the rampage when he drew his gun.

Kiet Thanh Ly has been arrested for the double stabbing. The two victims are both in critical condition. Police say Ly will be charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Ly has been arrested before. Once for threatening to stab a social worker with a knife.

Ly is being described as a South Vietnamese National. His immigration status is unknown. His motive appears to be anti-American and/or anti-white based on what he screamed during the attacks.
