Leading solo artist calls for a back to Africa movement


akonOne of the top R&B singers in America responded to the George Zimmerman verdict by calling for African Americans to move back to Africa.

“Every African American in the United States need to move their money, family, knowledge back to Africa were u will be treated like the royalty you are. You don’t deserve this treatment. This is not your country!!” – Akon

Akon, who’s real name is Aliaune Damala Akon Thiam was born in St. Louis, MO to Senegalese immigrants.

Incidentally, Senegal is one of several African nations that is trying to recruit blacks in the Western Hemisphere to move there. Ghana is also trying to recruit blacks in the US, particularly blacks with any kind of specialized job training, to immigrate. Ethiopia has a history of calling for blacks in the western hemisphere to move in since the 1920’s.

Rastafarianism is a black chauvinist religion largely based around the Back to Africa movement of the 1920’s. Two nations in Africa were founded by white philanthropists and originally settled by emancipated black slaves. Sierra Leone by the British and Liberia by the American Re-colonization Society.
