Trayvon supporters block traffic in Crenshaw, southwestern Los Angeles


Update: Protesters are now blocking the intersection of Crenshaw and Martin Luther King. Satellite traffic data confirms that traffic is at a stop at the intersection and part of Crenshaw. Reports on twitter say more rubber bullets have been fired. The media in LA is now reporting that rubber bullets and bean bags have been fired.

There are multiple reports on twitter that members of the Black Panthers are involved in the disturbances in Crenshaw.

Update: The LAPD has fired rubber bullets and the crowd is reportedly moving south on Crenshaw Boulevard now. Motorists are tweeting that I-10 is moving, but parts of Crenshaw Boulevard are now blocked by protesters.

Trayvon Martin supporters are blocking traffic on Southbound I-10 near exit 10 for Crenshaw Avenue. This is near the Crenshaw neighborhood of southwestern Los Angeles.

Witnesses say an army of LAPD in full riot gear are arriving on the scene now. LAPD are trying to divide the crowd into smaller more manageable groups.

This information comes from dozens of eyewitnesses posting on twitter. Trayvon Martin supporters have been protesting in Crenshaw for several hours.

Crenshaw is 63% black.
