Senate actually blocks militant black power nominee for DOJ Civil Rights Division

In a surprise vote, Obama’s militant black power activist nominee for head of the Civil Rights division of the DOJ was blocked by the US Senate. All Republicans and 5 Democrats voted to block the nominee.

Obama nominated Debo P. Adegbile, who has run the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and is a hardline black power activist. Adegbile is active in the movement to get unrepentant cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal freed from jail. Abu-Jamal was part of a violent black power group in Philadelphia. He murdered a white police officer. The killing was motivated by racial hatred.

Obama called the vote “a travesty based on wildly unfair character attacks against a good and qualified public servant.”
