Femicide & Race


The media portrays white female/black male relationships as trendy and glamorous. Is that a true representation, or a media fantasy?

The following are white females murder victims, that were in the news over the past few weeks.

Danielle Locklear, Fayetteville, NC

Danielle Locklear, 15, was killed by two black males in Fayetteville, NC. One of them was her boyfriend.

A study published in the American Journal of Public Health looked at ten years of data. Black females married to black males are 9 times more likely to be victims of spousal homicide than white females married to white males. The study found that interracial marriages where the male is black had the highest spousal homicide rate. White females married to black males are 12.4 times more likely to be murdered by their husbands than white females married to white males. Source: J A Mercy and L E Saltzman. White females with black males are the single highest risk category for femicide of any group of women in America.

Black males, who identify as heterosexual, are over 15 times more likely to be diagnosed with HIV/AIDS than white males. Black males are also more likely to have the disease and be diagnosed. One CDC study in Atlanat White females as a whole are diagnosed with HIV/AIDS at the lowest rate of any group in the USA. However, the is rate explodes when looking at just white females involved with black males. Black females have the highest infection rate of any group of women in the US. White females who have relations with black men are going to assume a risk factor closer to that of black women than white women who don’t have relations with black men.

A 2004 report by the CDC says that AIDS is the:

the leading cause of death for black women aged 25–34 years.
* the 3rd leading cause of death for black women aged 35–44 years.
* the 4th leading cause of death for black women aged 45–54 years.

By way of comparison, AIDS was only the 11th leading cause of death for white women aged 25-34!

Homicide

The same CDC report says that homicide is the:

* the second leading cause of death for black women aged 15-24 years.
* the fifth leading cause of death for black women aged 25-34 years.

Among women aged 15-24, homicide accounts for 5% of premature deaths in white females, but 20% of all premature deaths by black females.
