US Congressman says Democrats are at war with white people.

Republican Congressman Mo Brooks sparked controversy this week by suggesting that the Obama Administration and the Democratic Party are waging a “war on whites” as part of a strategy to divide voters on key issues.

“This is a part of the war on whites that’s being launched by the Democratic Party,” Alabama Rep. Brooks told Laura Ingraham on her radio show during a conversation about immigration legislation.

“And the way in which they’re launching this war is by claiming that whites hate everybody else. It’s part of the strategy that Barack Obama implemented in 2008, continued in 2012, where he divides us all on race, on sex, greed, envy, class warfare, all those kinds of things.” Brooks added.

The Congressman was specifically referring to claims in the media that Hispanic voters are disgruntled that House Republicans have not pushed for a vote on immigration reform, instead pressing for greater border security and deportation of illegal immigrants.

“If you look at the polling data, every demographic group agrees with the rule of law, enforcing and securing our borders,” Brooks noted, adding that “every one them understands that illegal immigration hurts every single demographic group.”

“It doesn’t make any difference if you’re a white American, a black American, a Hispanic American, an Asian American or if you’re a woman or a man. Every single demographic group is hurt by falling wages and lost jobs,” Brooks said, arguing that most Americans are against an “amnesty” for those residing in the country without documentation.

Brooks was also responding to comments made by National Journal’s Ron Fournier, who charged Sunday that Hispanic voters believe that the Republican party “hates” them. The GOP “cannot be the party of the future beyond November if you’re seen as the party of white people.” Fournier stated.

“Democrats, they have to demagogue on this and try and turn it into a racial issue, which is an emotional issue, rather than a thoughtful issue,” Brooks responded. “If it becomes a thoughtful issue, then we win and we win big. And they lose and they lose big.”

“As they get more desperate they’re going to argue race and things like that to a more heightened emotional state.” Brooks urged.

Ingraham told Brooks that she thought the phrase “war on whites” was “a little out there” and that the “phraseology might not be the best choice.” The Congressman replied “That’s what they are doing, though.”

In a second interview, Brooks elaborated on the comments, stating “What the Democrats are doing with their dividing America by race is they are waging a war on whites and I find that repugnant.”
