Pizza Hut’s new ad campaign based on ridiculing and mocking elderly Italians

The Italian woman is supposed to be mystified by blue jeans. Even though they were invented in Italy, are named after an Italian city, and Italian blue jeans are considered to be the most desirable and fashionable jeans all over the world.

The new ad campaign by Pizza Hut is based around ridiculing elderly Italians. While any commercial that portrays a black person in an even remotely negative role is widely denounced as “racist,” it is becoming increasing common to mock white people in advertising.

This ad campaign mocks and ridiculous elderly Italians and presents a cartoonish image of Italian culture.

In one scene an eldelry Italian woman is confused by what blue jeans are. In fact, blue jeans were first invented in Italy. The word “jeans” is an anglicized version of “Gênes.” This is the French word for the Italian city of Genoa, where denim fabric has been made for hundreds of years. The first widespread use of indigo dyed denim, aka “blue jeans,” was most likely by Italian sailors. It was used both for pants, and as tarps to cover up goods on the ship’s deck. The fabric was already  a working class staple in Italy over a hundred years before cowboys in the Western United States were wearing them.

For decades, Italian made jeans have been the most sought after in the world. America’s contribution to blue jeans was the idea, by a Latvian immigrant, to rivet the corners of pockets. Blue jeans only became popular in the eastern United States in the 1950s after being popularized by Hollywood.

This billboard for the Sony Playstation in Europe was denounced worldwide as “racist” simply because the white woman is in the dominate role and the black woman is in the submission role. When have you ever seen an advertisement denounced by the “mainstream” media for mocking white people.
