Media Blackout after unarmed white man killed by police while performing charity

Robert Lawrence, a white male, was taking a stray animal to an animal shelter in Dothan, AL. A police officer asked him to see his identification. The man informed the officer that he was not required to show the cop id and didn’t want to. The officer tased the victim and then shot and killed him.

There are conflicting accounts about whether Lawrence was alone, or if he was with other family members.

This is what the Dothan Police Chief had to say…

At approximately 12:30 pm officers made contact with Robert Lawrence at the Dothan City Animal Shelter after he attempted to turn a stray animal over to an employee. Lawrence, a sovereign citizen, became disorderly after being told he could not leave the animal without producing identification. After repeatedly being told to calm down, Lawrence was advised he was being placed under arrest. A physical altercation ensued, to which Lawrence was shot in the abdomen.

If the man had been black, this would have instantly become the single biggest news story in North America right now. There would be mass protests and trending hashtags. Instead, it is a minor local story. We couldn’t even find a single video about it on youtube, or more than a handful of tweets.

Lawrence was killed on Tuesday, and so far the story has not even made it out of the local media. Some local media have focused on portraying Lawrence as an anti-government extremist with potential for violence.

Robert Lawrence recently served time in jail for “harassing communications. He allegedly threatened to kill a government employee who was responsible for taking his three kids into state custody.

Dothan police are calling Robert Lawrence a “sovereign citizen,” a label that appears to come from the Southern Poverty Law Center [SPLC]. The SPLC has tried to characterized “sovereign citizens” as a threat to police officers. Lawrence’s lawyer denies that his client was a “sovereign citizen” and says Lawrence never threatened the police officer at any time.

The term “sovereign citizen” is not even remotely well defined by the SPLC. It appears to be a catch-all term for anyone who espouses self-styled anti-authority rhetoric. We did an extensive search on google. Most of what comes up under “Sovereign Citizen Movement” is SPLC materials and other left-wingers quoting the SPLC. We could not find any evidence that any actual movement exists calling itself the “sovereign citizens.”

It appears that the SPLC looks for highly eccentric white people, who have committed serious crimes, and then labels them “sovereign citizens” even though their individual ideologies are completely different. It is all part of the SPLC’s mission to create alleged right-wing boogeymen. We couldn’t find anywhere on the SPLC website where they even list a single organization as being part of the “sovereign citizens” movement.

Since Dothan police called Lawrence a “sovereign citizen,” one must wonder if the cop was influenced by the outrageous materials published by the SPLC. The SPLC mails a quarterly far-left scare tactic magazine to every police department in the USA.

Was Lawrence being targeted because the Dothan police bought into the SPLC’s outrageous propaganda?

The race of the officer who shot Lawrence has not been disclosed.

Notice the video clip below is almost solely dedicated to demonizing Lawrence. And it lays it on HEAVY!
