Oops, “racist” Academy has a black president

It was a black man who went to a colonial Virginia court and sued for the right to own black people as chattel slaves.

It was a black mayor who authorized the “bombing” of a fortified bunker by the terrorist group MOVE in Philadelphia.

It was a black mayor that refused to implement the New Orleans evacuation plan, leading to the deaths of hundreds of poor black residents.

It was a black supervising officer who oversaw the arrest of Eric Garner and reported that no wrongdoing had occurred.

And now it is a black academy president conducting the “racist” 2015 Academy Awards.

The black woman, who is president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is now pandering to Al Sharpton and the #blacklivesmatters crowd. She says that the Academy will “push” to have greater diversity in the coming years. We can only speculate that “push” implies an affirmative action racial-quota scheme will be employed in the future selection of nominees.

By the way, for most of the history of Western Civilization, actors have always held the same social status as prostitutes. It is only in the extremely recent past that Westerners have begun the hero-worship of actors.

From The Tampa Tribune…

Responding for the first time to the firestorm of criticism over the lack of diversity in this year’s Oscar nominations, film academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs says the all-white acting slate inspires her to accelerate the academy’s push to be more inclusive. She also hopes the film industry as a whole will continue to strive for greater diversity.

The first black president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences spoke out Friday night in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press about the Oscar nominations and the widespread criticism that followed.

All 20 of this year’s acting contenders are white and there are no women in the directing or writing categories. After the nominations were announced Thursday morning, the hashtag (hash)OscarsSoWhite started trending on Twitter.
