AZ Sheriff: ICE is releasing 30 to 50 convicted criminals into my county per day
“There is no enforcement. 30 to 50 criminals released every day into my county from ICE facilities” – Sheriff Paul Babeu
Pinal County, AZ Sheriff Paul Babeu testified before the House Judiciary Committee on the failure of US border enforcement. Babeu talked about the Tuscon Sector, one of nine security zones along the US-Mexican border.
Babeu stated that “17% and 30%” of illegal aliens apprehended, “depending on which leader of the border patrol you talk too,” already have a criminal record in the United States.
Babeu testified that ICE facilities in the Tuscon Sector are releasing between 30 and 50 criminals per day into Pinal County. Those released include convicted rapists and child molesters. Babeu says that the criminal records of these illegal aliens are secret. ICE refuses to even tell him which ones are sex offenders.
Babeu stated that his department is at war with the Sinaloa drug cartel. Babeu compared the situation with the Sinaloa Cartel with his experiences in Iraq. Babeu also testified that his department has captured weapons provided to the Sinaloa Cartel by the Obama Administration under the program known as “Fast & Furious.”
