Megadeth Conservative / Libertarian ?

MegadethNew Megadeth Album has surprising lyrics.

by Kyle Rogers

The two decades old anti-war heavy metal band Megadeth has just released it’s 16th album. Far from a typical pop culture band, Megadeth’s new album contains lyrics that would seem appropriate for a John Birch Society cook out. The title song is an anti-United Nations anthem called United Abominations. The artwork on the inside of the album contains the four horsemen of the apocalypse and blue petrol barrels, marked with UN logos, bursting open with blood.

Besides the UN, lyrics on the album rail against the attack on family values, the “New World Order,” gun control, and drug use. The best lines on the album comes from the song, Washington is Next, which is about the United States spiraling towards the “New World Order.”

The quiet war has begun with silent weapons
And the new slavery is to keep the people
Poor and stupid, “Novus Ordo Seclorus”

Disengage their minds, sabotage their health
Promote sex, and war, and violence in the kindergartens
Blame the parents and teachers; it’s their fault,
“Annuit Coeptis”
Attack the church dynamic, attack the family
Keep the public undisciplined till nothing left is sacred

Washington Is Next contains awesome guitar work that really fits the lyrics. United Abominations is also a heart pumping metal song with wicked guitar work combined with spoken diatribes blasting the UN dismal record. The song points out that the UN has never resolved any significant conflict and often makes things worse. The US taxpayers pay for 22% of the UN’s budget, while “peace keepers” commit sex crimes in third world countries.

Sales of the album are strong and have renewed interest in this 80’s metal band. Megadeth is currently on a tour of Western Europe.
