CPAC Stands For Out of Touch Elitists

By: The Unreconstructed Southerner

This coming weekend in Washington DC the 35th annual gathering of CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) will be held. In the past this event had a few things to recommend it, including a booth featuring members of this very organization. Since the mid 90’s and definitely in the Bush II era, CPAC has become little aside from a Beltway Republican party pep rally. This year’s schedule ought to tell any true right ring activist that they will be disappointed. With the exception of people like Congressman Ron Paul, Phyllis Schlaffy, and a few others the event seems to offer little in the way of solutions to the problems that plague our country.

One key sign that something is wrong is the fact that the event is that Day 2 features a speaker from CORE (Congress on Racial Equality).CORE is a socialist organization that played a key role in the attacks on the Constitution and Southern tradition from the 1950’s to this very day. Martin Luther King proclaimed to the group ” “For the last twelve years we have been in the reform movement (but now) we have moved into a new era, which must be an era of revolution.” CORE took these words to heart and was involved in many of the violent upheavals of the late 1960’s. That groups such as this are even allowed a spot at the conference is a slap in the face of true conservatives and another sign of political correctness dictating the actions of all too many in the American right.

While a few berths have been given to speakers addressing religious issues, it is doubtful very many even understand nor will they dare to take a stand against the march of cultural Marxism in our society. In fact only one session of exclusive discussion is set aside for immigration, and the keynote speaker on the issue is Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) who promoted amnesty for illegal aliens last summer. John McCain, the amnesty kingpin and GOP presidential frontrunner, shall also be making a speech so we can all understand how granting legal status to illegal aliens isn’t really amnesty according to him. As for those interested in defending national sovereignty you might be disappointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry who has endorsed Senator McCain, and also been involved in the plan to build the NAFTA superhighway.

Short of demonizing Democrats, promoting tax cuts, and pleading for the country to trust the Republicans with power again it seems that CPAC will be just another day for the Beltway crowd to engage in day long ceremonies of missing the point. Tax cuts are nice, but matter little as long as the welfare state remains standing. Talking about activist judges makes little difference when you schmooze with the same liberal Republican senators who vote to confirm them. Until CPAC and Republicans learn to actually listen to the concerns of Middle America, instead of letting those concerns go in one ear and out the other, then Dr. Sam Francis will continue to be right that the conservative movement is irrelevant. Those who want to be a part of the true movement representing Middle America need to join the Council of Conservative Citizens today and be part of those seeking to set things right and take this country back.
