The radical left-wing fund raising hustle known as the SPLC has once again been denounced by a leading media outlet on the left. The Huffington Post published an editorial denouncing the SPLC as one sided and says the center has become a “hate group” itself.

The group has angered numerous left-wing commentators because it raises such vast quantities of money and actually does very little outside of paying it’s leaders massive salaries and bonuses.

From Huffington Post…

Yesterday, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) released a new report titled, “The Second Wave: Return of the Militias.,” In my humble opinion, it deserves a C minus for its glaring lack of rigor. Instead of providing readers with a systematic analysis and hard data supporting its warning about a growing threat, the SPLC’s report was chocked full of vague generalities and unnamed sources. Most importantly, it made no serious effort to distinguish between individuals exercising their constitutional rights and groups that might actually pose a threat to society.

The SPLC has been mum on the issue, despite the fact that in 2000, it included the New Black Panther Party among its annual list of hate groups. In fact, what is most shocking is that the SPLC has spent far more resources hounding conservative organizations, such as the Center for Immigration Studies, and prominent citizens like CNN’s award-winning anchor Lou Dobbs, than it has protecting the civil rights of American voters, which includes white people as well as black. The unrelenting attacks on Mr. Dobbs and others are shameless. The once venerable organization wages war against conservative individuals, principles, and organizations. How unfortunate for America. How unfortunate for the organization’s founders.

[ed. – Actually the founder, Morris Dees, still runs the organization himself. The SPLC has never changed, this is what they always did. Dees founded the group as a way to make buckets of money. Dees was a former chief fundraiser for Jimmy Carter, George McGovern, and Ted Kennedy. Hustling huge donations is what he does best. He makes so much money that he lives like a medieval king in a gated palace with armed guards! Morris Dees also built a massive grotesque “post-modern” monstrosity in the middle of historic downtown Montgomery. Spending tens of millions on a two building eyesore that serves no other purpose than to raise money. ]
