US State Department buys $400k camel statue from high profile Obama supporter


The US State Department has so much money that they can afford to decorate foreign embassies with $400k pieces of artwork. But, not just any artwork. A giant fiberglass camel made by a high profile Obama supporter.

John Baldessari was part of a group called “Artists For Obama” and appeared at campaign events for Barack Obama. He also donated paintings to the campaign, which were sold for donations. A move that circumvents campaign finance laws. He made several large fiberglass statues of a camel staring at a needle. The US State Department purchased one of them for the US embassy in Pakistan.
