Poll: Was NYC car jack victim justified in shooting two armed perps?

Two armed men tried to carjack a victim in the Bronx at 4 am. The victim turned the tables, pulling his own gun. The perps fled, but were pursued and killed by the would-be victim. Now the media is demonizing the victim and saying he committed “double murder.”

From New York Daily News…

The victim of an attempted Bronx carjacking went berserk Friday, chasing down the thieves and shooting them dead, cops said.

The 30-year-old man was driving a Mercedes-Benz SUV when he was approached by Jermaine Johnson and Kaiison Lewis outside the Dyer Avenue Deli Grocery in Wakefield about 4:40 a.m., police said.

Johnson and Lewis, who both lived in Mount Vernon, N.Y., tried to steal the SUV at gunpoint, investigators believe. But when their mark fought back, they ran to Johnson’s car, which was parked nearby at Rombouts Ave. and Light St.

That’s when their target pulled his own gun and riddled Johnson’s green Acura TL with bullets, cops said.

Lewis, 23, was shot in the head and midsection and taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died. Johnson, 28, who was in the driver’s seat, was shot in the midsection, and died at the scene, officials said.
