Community leaders in North Omaha are angry they’re not getting the help they need.

“The violence that we’re seeing here is a result of gang members who have no regard for human life,”Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said Saturday.

Two things stand out about what police said today about the early morning deadly shooting. First, they’re upping patrols in north and midtown Omaha.

“You will see a much heavier police presence in the area of our shooting to prevent retaliation,” Schmaderer said.

Second, Police say at least forty to fifty were at last night’s party. no one is telling them what happened.

“I’m hoping that they will come forward in the near future,” Councilman Ben Gray said.

He represents the district where the shootings happened. Gray and Schmaderer are pleading with the public tonight to come forward with any tips.

“Recognize you will be safe if you talk,” Gray said.

“I realize the fear you may have had and the intimidation that could have taken place there at the scene early this morning. I’m asking you for the sake of the community to contact law enforcement, we have means at our disposal to protect what you say to us and to protect your safety,” Schmaderer said.
