Rash of black on white mob attacks in downtown Syracuse, NY

At least five victims were attacked by the same group of black teenagers over a three day period in Syracuse, NY.

Most media outlets in Syracuse censored the race of the suspects.

Syracuse is 65% white and 25% black.

Carr said the first two robberies happened just after 6 p.m.Tuesday.

He said a 51-year-old man had his cell phone stolen by five to eight males who also tried to steal his laptop. It happened as the man was walking to a second-floor parking area in a garage at 200 Harrison St. by the Centro Transit Hub. The man was not injured during the struggle.

Police said a 32-year old woman was robbed 10 minutes later in a parking lot on 100 Linden St., located behind the Salvation Army. She told police that three males approached her, asking for a cigarette. They then punched and kicked her while demanding money, but fled without getting any. The woman sustained a minor head injury during the attempted robbery.

A group of six male teenagers tried to rob a 24-year-old woman around 6:20 p.m. Thursday at the same Harrison Street parking garage where the 51-year-old man was robbed. She told police that one male grabbed her and asked for her phone, but she was able to swing her purse at him. The male threatened to hit her and ran away with the rest of the teens.

The next robbery put a 56-year-old man in the hospital after he was attacked around 6:30 p.m. while he was walking to his vehicle at the Trolley Lot at 200 Jefferson St. Police said six teens approached him at the corner of Gifford and South Clinton streets and one asked for money. The man ignored the teens who followed him and punched him in the face, demanding money. The teens fled when they saw a vehicle approaching the area, police said. The man drove himself to the hospital to be treated.

Carr said the teens are described at African American males wearing dark colored clothing and traveling in a group.
